The Club of (Silly) Aunts
They meet regularly at the café "Sahnesteif," much like the chubby girls in Udo Jürgens' song "Aber bitte mit Sahne." The four ladies have clearly felt the ravages of time, and they have long since passed their third spring, but they still fancy themselves part of the Hot Voley. Right after graduating from high school, they married older, wealthy men and now live off their legacies.
They are Mechthild Fadenlauf, widow of a pom-pom manufacturer. Slogan: “Whether big or small, round and fluffy they must be.”
Hedwig Grünspahn, part-time vegan with photosynthesis intolerance, widow of a manufacturer of homeopathic medicines, especially globules made of 99.999% sugar and 0.000000001% active ingredient.
Agathe Straffkörper, widow of a plastic surgeon, and
Kunigunde Verhütlich, widow of a manufacturer of artistically designed condoms (e.g., with ruffles or a musical interlude of "Rammstein").
The four (over)ripe ladies always have something to talk about under the motto: “Those who brag get more out of life,” like Agathe, who buys a C-Class Benz every two years.
But today, it’s all about a perfume. Mechthild places a spray bottle on the table. General “Oh and ahhhh!” due to the pretty bottle. Mechthild announces it’s a rarity from Tita Rossi from 1987. Hedwig says she once had baggy pants from Tita in the 80s and also a flowing costume. The bottle is uncorked, and they all take turns applying it to their forearms.
A grapefruit-like citrus note rises, followed by an almost spicy and bitter sharpness.
Agathe complains: “Well, sweet or lovely it is not! You expect something different from such a playful bottle!”
While the four graces sip their coffee (they can’t really drink properly since their latest Botox injection prevents them from opening their mouths completely), Tita makes a turn on their arms and sends over an abundance of unsweet flowers, spices (not just cinnamon), and a scratchy powderiness.
Kunigunde crows: “Now it’s getting better, but sweet or feminine it’s not quite.” A men’s scent? Definitely wearable by men.
Later, caramel sends a very subtle sweetness, underscored by a light vanilla note. But overall, Tita remains a spicy, scratchy, powdery, old-school oriental that seems a bit out of time today, just like these four protagonists.
