In incense-smoked humidor with good cigars and a sip of rum

I stumbled upon this fragrance purely by chance through an advertisement from an online perfumery. And although I usually ignore such things, for some reason I decided to look into the scent. And even though incense, tobacco, oud, and all that stuff isn't really my thing, I still got some samples (thanks again to Schnuppi42 and Sinusitis). And by now I understand why. We simply had to find each other. It was inevitable. This perfume chooses its wearer, not the other way around!

The scent starts off very smoothly with rum or cognac, which is supposed to be in there. After that, cedarwood dominates for a very long time along with the tobacco. It reminds me of a humidor, which are usually made of cedarwood, filled with good cigars. The smell that hits you when you open one of those. Wonderful smoky and spicy. Great.

This impression stays with me for hours. Over time, the sweetness becomes more pronounced, but without dominating. The smokiness, and now the incense is also more noticeable, complements the sweetness beautifully. And this impression remains. Especially since there is no real conclusion to this scent. It just stays and stays and stays...

This brings us to the next outstanding point. The longevity. Sprayed on in the morning, you can smell it without any problems for 24 hours. On clothing, it even lasts for several days. Not even a washing machine can really eliminate it. Just insane. The sillage is also top-notch. For hours, it is absolutely expansive and filling. Just for your information: We're talking about a 2014 fragrance!

I can somewhat agree with the references to Black Afghano, and also not. Such scents are too similar. I would rather see a resemblance to Dark Rebel by John Varvatos. Particularly the middle and base notes of both fragrances smell very similar to me. By the way, also a really good scent.

What remains of this fragrance? For me, who usually prefers peppery citrus scents and vetiver, Laudano Nero is a fascinating smoky-spicy fragrance with a grand presence. A scent that personally doesn't overwhelm me. A scent that definitely has the character to become my new signature fragrance. A scent that you have to wear with a decent amount of self-confidence. A scent that seeks its wearer...

You just can't resist so much charm... not from the fragrance and not from the comment either! For that, I'm happy to leave behind a good bottle and something to smoke ;-)

Great comment that really resonates with me. It's a longevity and sillage monster. I love wearing it again and again, even for fieldwork! The wearer trophy goes to you...
