The Dream of an Oak
Tom Ford - that's a bit of a thing... Honestly, I'm not a big fan of some of his fragrances. This might upset some who have eagerly awaited and spent a lot on these perfumes. But as the saying goes: Not everything that glitters is gold.
Well, my friend swears by this scent, so I try to be a bit more understanding. This fragrance simply smells like a European tree to me. Does that sound like something you want? Seems so. Nature and wood have taken on a completely new meaning here. But unfortunately, the fun stops there. My nose is really disappointed by this journey. When I think of Oud Wood, I expect a wealth of woods, oriental spices, loads of oud, and maybe even a certain creaminess. Unfortunately, this bottle is mainly filled with forest air, and it lacks spice. Yes, it definitely smells like forest and wood, maybe even a bit mossy. But profound? Nope. My friend claims that my nasal hairs have been burnt out from too much common sniffing, and that's why I can't smell the saffron (where did saffron come from all of a sudden?) and the oud. Well, even if my nose is a bit worn out, I should still be able to smell the oud, after all, that's what the name on the bottle promises me. If it's called Oud Wood, then I expect oud in abundance!
