The Tender Vetiver

It approaches very cautiously, this modern vetiver from Tuscany. On tiptoes, it sneaks forward, past citrus fruits and warm spices, to then envelop itself like a gentle, earthy veil around a powdery sea of iris, jasmine, and musk.

I think I can still perceive a hint of guaiac wood, and from a distance, lavender waves at me - or are those the lily of the valley back there on the horizon?

Gradually, the powdery base takes over, the musk now dominates, but it doesn’t lose sight of the vetiver and thus remains slightly greenish, earthy, and just a tiny bit sweet -- perhaps the amber or is it the rose or even the rhubarb? This is now my second Torre of Tuscany fragrance that I am testing, and this one is so rounded, so harmonious, that I can hardly pick out individual notes.

Vetiver Moderno is one of the most feminine vetiver scents I have encountered so far; I would almost not call it unisex anymore. It is a beautiful spring-or-summer evening fragrance, and I am really puzzling over why I found vetiver so terrible until a few months ago..

But gentlemen, don’t be put off by the "feminine"! The scent works wonderfully for men and has a great rugged side. You should definitely give it a try! Hmmm, what a lovely fragrance at a bit of a distance from the skin...!
