Love at First Sight - Close, but not quite...

I got this as a free sample from my latest Lucky Scent order, and it was a very nice introduction to Une Nuit Nomade! While not quite enticing enough to tempt me into purchasing a bottle, I did want to give this fragrance credit where it's due.

The opening is a slightly fruity but very realistic lilac, backed-up by an overall spring-like vibe. It does feel like taking a breath of fresh air when the flowers are beginning to open up after a long winter. The scent sits pretty close to the skin, though, so don't expect to smell it without a bit of movement or airflow. Where this fragrance loses me is the dry-down, where the ylang-ylang and I'm assuming the acacia (because this is the first time I've encountered that note) combine to turn this a bit too green on me, almost bitterly so. My ideal lilac fragrance stays fresh, perhaps a little dewy, and the sweetness comes from the flowers' scent, not necessarily a fruity or gourmand essence. And lastly, being that it is a lilac-forward fragrance, it sadly doesn't seem to have the best longevity. Maybe 4 hours? I do only have a sample so my experience may be slightly skewed; I've noticed some samples don't perform as well as bottles do, maybe from the amount of perfume you get per spray.

So, all in all, this *is* a very nice fragrance and I'm sure it will be someone else's favorite spring floral! It just isn't *my* favorite spring floral, and the beauty of fragrance is that there is always something for everyone. My hunt for my perfect lilac fragrance continues!
