Valentino, THE Valentino has accompanied me for half my life. But not too long ago, the Valentino brand suddenly came closer to me again: The Roman Stud collection had caught my fashion interest, and Viva Voce for my daughter (more on VV elsewhere). But the admiration stops right here and now. Born in Roma Yellow Dream for girls (the male counterpart is said to be quite good!) is a neon yellow citrus blast in the oven.
I would gladly miss the first seconds on my skin, as they were quite piercing to the nose, and it didn’t get noticeably better afterward. I have encountered this scent many times, even though it has just been born under this name. But I know many from the last few years that are virtually identical and also identically uninteresting. The sweetness is synthetically intrusive, and a rather pleasant creaminess is almost completely drowned out. One is almost glad that it doesn’t have as much staying power on the skin as the early Valentinos.
I sincerely apologize, Signor Valentino Garavani, but I am just too much Joan Collins for that.
