Puzzling and surprising scent
La Haine, wow, where to start. Opening is a fresh synthetic metallic blast that's strange - not nose singeing, not a scrubber, just different. If the blood note is there, it's quite subdued; nothing like Inexcusable Evil. The opening starts to mellow out and become smoother as the rubber note appears along with a mix of a woody note and leather. I've smelled burning rubber before and it is way more acrid than with this scent. The rubber smell didn't seem burnt to me. As it finally stabilized, La Haine took on a divided impression. Nose very close to skin smelled about 70% rubbery and about 30% sweaty, somewhat like subtle sweaty body odor. The scent bubble around me, however, reminded me of an old school men's fragrance - almost like the scent of some barbershop-y or fougere type scent after it had mellowed out somewhat, some hours after application. A really weird effect, but a very pleasant scent - not really smoky and not rubbery, although it remained rubbery/sweaty up close. Perhaps it was just the combination of the cedar, moss and leather that bloomed in the air.
Performance was good - getting about 7 to 8 hours longevity on skin with a more compact scent bubble after the first hour or so. La Haine was one of the better modern/industrial type scents I've smelled.
