Puzzling and surprising scent
La Haine, wow, where to start. Opening is a fresh synthetic metallic blast that's strange - not nose singeing, not a scrubber, just different. If the blood note is there, it's quite subdued; nothing like Inexcusable Evil. The opening starts to mellow out and become smoother as the rubber note appears along with a mix of a woody note and leather. I've smelled burning rubber before and it is way more acrid than with this scent. The rubber smell didn't seem burnt to me. As it finally stabilized, La Haine took on a divided impression. Nose very close to skin smelled about 70% rubbery and about 30% sweaty, somewhat like subtle sweaty body odor. The scent bubble around me, however, reminded me of an old school men's fragrance - almost like the scent of some barbershop-y or fougere type scent after it had mellowed out somewhat, some hours after application. A really weird effect, but a very pleasant scent - not really smoky and not rubbery, although it remained rubbery/sweaty up close. Perhaps it was just the combination of the cedar, moss and leather that bloomed in the air.

Performance was good - getting about 7 to 8 hours longevity on skin with a more compact scent bubble after the first hour or so. La Haine was one of the better modern/industrial type scents I've smelled.

Intolerance
Fragrances can evoke attraction, harmony and positive reactions within a certain radius for a short period of time - including the wearer. This one is not one of them. "La Haine" was never meant for any kind of comfort zone, and it will pull the person and everyone around them out of it.

Burnt rubber and flex fumes, laced with distant notes from an old organic chemical closet. Harsh, toxic and headache-inducing. Lasts forever, very linear progression. Screams "IDGAF" - but in a non-juvenile and menacing way.

The performance of the spray fits seamlessly into the general industrial theme ("heavy duty") - be careful.

If you have to carry it - make sure you can. Otherwise it will carry you.

That's not hate.
That's all there is to it, but hate isn't. Love isn't, either, but hate is not.
And it's not leathery at all. Rather woody. A cokey That. I guess you could say that.
You don't think it smells so good when it's called hatred.

Cedar. Whatever. But Atlas cedar? Get the Diercke out of there.
More smoke than sound, but quiet.

Tar, rubber, metal? I'd love to, but it's not in here. Gschpusi.
And the drawer, who can carry that how, where, and when, and at all, is something we would like to close together again, please? It doesn't get out.

All this smells as if the perfumer, Mark Buxbaum, the old dog lung, still had to fulfill a prescription contract.
Chaos & Disorder.
Unfortunately horny.

I was expecting a nose-twitching, unwearable perfume. But it seems like a pretty masculine fragrance with resinous, spicy undertones.

Fresh tyre marks on hot asphalt covered with oil and gasoline. Car parts on side of the road. Evocative of mechanic’s garage. Geared to men.

metallic aldehydes mingle with bitter greens, floating above a burnt rubber accord amid leather and woods - somehow still wearable

Where others failed, Buxton leans into the burnt, ashy, rubbery notes and combines them with leather to make something beautiful. Addictive.
