Silk Doll...but not a little doll.
The brand YS UZAC had not been on my radar at all until now.
There are very few comments about the few fragrances from YS UZAC, so they have only appeared sporadically during the short time I've been here. I was probably also put off by either the descriptions or the listed ingredients, so I hadn't added YS UZAC fragrances to my watchlist or the souk.
Well, I received this sample from Pluto - thank you very much for that.
Satin Doll starts off alcoholic and softly spicy. I hardly perceive any pepper.
But the flowers from the heart are already present. After a few minutes, the blossoms
shed their balsamic veil and spread out, beginning to shine.
This floral bouquet initially made me recoil - "Crap,... women's perfume," I said to my wife and let her sniff my neck. "Nope, it's okay," was her reaction.
The iris is rather subdued; in any case, the powdery aspect is very low.
As always, I immediately smell the rose, a darker variety. Rose is one of those ingredients in a fragrance that I don't get along with well. Too dominant, too headache-inducing.
The tuberose may contribute some sweetness, but I haven't smelled a pure tuberose yet. Perhaps it adds to the very bright floral scent, despite the darker rose. I can clearly smell the jasmine, which I usually like.
In various comments, there was mention of a "rotten jasmine." However, I never had an idea of what that meant. Now I have an idea because here in Satin Doll, the jasmine is indeed rotten (putrid).

An exceptionally successful combination!
After initial doubts, this floral heart has convinced and delighted me. The different facets of these flowers lie side by side, shining silkily and preventing this lush floral quality from becoming boring.
It's really well put together.
Before the floral notes cloud my mind too much, the patchouli comes through.
The public enemy number 1 - how many fragrances has patchouli already scared me away from...
And yet, here it fits like a glove.
The patchouli adds just enough dark smoke to the floral splendor so that the wearer is not blinded.
Just enough earthy warmth to warm up the somewhat cool flowers.
I have experienced something similar in Eau Moheli.
Later, as the flowers fade a bit, light wisps of incense (very light, very bright) join the patchouli, and a balsamic base tone sets in.
The floral note remains perceptible for a long time, the patchouli does not become stronger, and thus the fragrance experience approaches its end. Eventually, both the patchouli and the incense are gone, leaving a balsamic base, still with a hint of flowers on top.
The longevity is clearly over a workday with a good amount applied, and the projection is noticeable, definitely an arm's length.
But Satin Doll is not a fragrance for every day and is rather out of place in the office. Satin Doll is for special occasions chosen by the wearer. Then, one can surely manage with smaller amounts. (I had to apply something fresh the day after the test.)
Satin Doll definitely fascinates me, and I give it a high rating, even though I wouldn't buy it. In the end, as well as everything plays together, I can't get past roses and patchouli!
Bottom line: A great perfume - and not just for women!

I actually gave this scent 80%, the jasmine didn't bother me here.
