Scent

Of blackbirds and danced through nights

I first smelled this scent a few years ago on a good friend during a common welcoming hug before we settled in for champagne and wine and then a night out at a favorite, familiar club. Even before I realized I was about to notice a scent, the feeling of well-being, security and pure happiness shot into my stomach in a flash. I immediately told her that she smelled very good and asked what it was. She replied "green tea from Yves Rocher." Oddly enough, I was puzzled by this answer. Not because I didn't trust YR with good scents, but because I didn't remotely associate green tea with this scent. What I smelled were lilies of the valley, though not soapy, but fresh and soft.

Since I spoke so enthusiastically about your scent, she sprayed me with two whiffs of it. Contrary to what I expected, I perceived something citrusy and licorice-like in the process. After a few minutes, the green tea took over, which I liked a lot, but didn't come close to the scent of the lily of the valley. I had to be patient for about half an hour until the white flowers I was hoping for, which don't appear in the composition at all, showed up for me and stayed. Although the sillage and durability were rather in the midfield and became a pleasant skin scent for me, the feeling that the fragrance triggered in me affected me all night.

The following week, of course, I had to get the bottle for myself - also to please everyone who enters my personal zone. Although he is not a classic going out fragrance, he became my faithful companion for beautiful warm summer nights with friends and music. It was still there even when I was a little tipsy but happy and pleasantly exhausted in the morning walking home, accompanied by the beautiful song of blackbirds, sniffing the places where I had applied it. When I spray myself with it today, I can't help but think of just that: of that certain feeling of freedom and aliveness. Of the cool mornings after nights of dancing. If the fragrance were a song, for me it would be "Blackbird" by The Beatles.
