The Vestaire des Parfums Édition Couture brings together a collection of three woody scents: 6 PLACE SAINT SULPICE, 24 RUE DE L'UNIVERSITÉ, and of course, 37 RUE DE BELLECHASSE.
In the heart of Paris - at the northwest corner of the intersection of Rue de Bellechasse 37 - lies the Abbey of Penthemont, which is now the headquarters of YSL. Overall, the fragrance is meant to represent the atmosphere of this abbey house - and with it, the entrepreneurial spirit of Y. S. Laurent. Everything feels a bit reverent, elevated - almost formal. Just like in an old monastery.

I myself was on the lookout for another iris scent. I love iris for its distinctly clear and honest nature. This time, it was supposed to be dark, suitable for evening wear. This can be quite difficult to find, especially when it is not paired with overwhelming sweetness. Many do that, and I do not like those many. Especially the ones with vanilla often go far beyond any targets and end up in mundane, mass-appeal epics.

Let the iris shine, give it space!

I then found - with the help of Aleyzs during a souk testing - the true dark iris treasure. In general, the souk is still the best opportunity for testing. Thank you all again for that!

Yes, a minimal sweet touch also brushes Rue 37 in the deepest drydown of the night, but it is only a grain of benzoin resin responsible for that. Overall, Rue 37 feels very resinous to me. You can probably imagine quite well what these resins combined with nagarmotha, pepper, incense, and oud result in. Plus a hint of patchouli. What a conglomerate! It smolders reverently-pastoral in these rooms, balsam vapors ground the hidden.
And then - high above in the naves of Penthemont - only one reigns: the iris. Black liquid. Dry white in the twilight.

And it is allowed to shine, spreading its wings over everything and everyone in this former abbey and tells you: Everything is good!
