It is - and it is not
The new Opium mix from 2009 is not Opium. It is more a beautiful yet different mix of an oldie but goodie. It is way more feminine than the original an in my opinion a bit more uninteresting. This is both good and nice - but it does not have the same aura or ‘in your face’ attitude as Opium.

The raw material is no longer the same as in 1977, just as people are no longer the same! I also want to remind you that a perfume cannot survive 100% identically for 50 years. You will not be the same in 50 years either, what demands can you make of a consumable good? I really don't understand this nostalgia devoid of content and logic. Be happy that Opium is still being produced and wear it as it is, if it doesn't satisfy you, then you can always pay 400-500-1000 euros for an oxidized bottle from the 70s-80s.
