Gorgeous scent with a tiny drop of youthdew from the past.

I remember Opium from the past when I was young and always found it a bit too 'obvious' and 'distinct' and so I wore Youthdew by Estee Lauder. I tried the newest formulation of Youthdew some time ago and, though I hate complaining about reformulations (because they often are done for a good cause, due to IFRA regulations), I missed the bright and 'funny' cocacola note in the newest composition.
Well here it is! Opium (2009) Eau de Toilette is much brighter, playful and interesting than in the past to my nose and, though it is a different scent, I really get some 'youthdew vibes' by smelling some cocacola in here.
I also find it a bit more 'soapy' than the former formulation, that well groomed feel I get from it while still wearing something mystical (I struggle to find a synonym for 'oriƫntal' because I know that's a controversial word), is pure bliss. I guess the fresh bergamot and mandarin do that.
I find it way more authentic and versatile than the former one also.
I sprayed some on my wrist the other day and....OMG..the way it behaved in the cool, late summer air when I came outside...So lovely! Ran straight back to the shop to get me a sample.
The myrrh is so beautyful, the way I always imagined what it would smell like when, in Bibleclass, the teacher would tell us about the gifts from the three wise men from the east when Jesus was born (I'm agnostic, but always loved many Bible stories in class). A rich, ancient scent, but nowhere near 'dated'.
Sillage and projection are good as well as longevity.
May buy a full bottle when I finished my sample.
