A Spirit-Lifting Canopy
Raspberry-leather (or here dried fruits) is currently very much in vogue in Flui's nose. And there are already quite a few comparable fragrances out there. Starting with Tuscan Leather (ridiculous price), over Godolphin (who needs 125 ml?), Vicolo del Sellaio (a lesser-known La Collina Toscana, but a bargain) to Black Saffron by Byredo.
Although Flui has little to no affinity for Yves Saint Laurent, today Noble Leather was tested.
Among the fragrances mentioned above, NL is truly the most delicate and also the most subtle. NL feels more spun than crafted. The scent does not convey any impression of heaviness or effort. Quite the opposite, it represents olfactory lightness, a serious leather of nonchalance.
The oriental character? In Flui's opinion, it has turned out to be very non-committal, not at all overwhelming. And this is really beautifully designed, as it is so restrained, almost shyly composed. The vanilla is not sunk in but rather blown in.
As for the leather, we have here finely spun leather. A taut canopy unfolds. A leather canopy with oriental supports. In contrast, Tuscan Leather is more like a massive skyscraper and a waterfall, whereas NL represents a fine fountain.
Through the wafted vanilla, the canopy stretches a bit and begins to arch slightly. Here, in my opinion, there is a strong contrast to Tuscan Leather, which showcases its concentrated smokiness. NL displays its spirit-lifting quality.
NL does not bubble, it glows, finely balanced. It never pushes beyond itself. What I find fascinating about NL is that it does not strive for depth; I perceive the opposite, the noble leather somehow strives upwards.
I would like to interpret the leather in a somewhat dreamy direction. The sweetness is the spirit that builds the body. Without the sweetness, Nobile Leather would not be Nobile Leather and would be an indecisive spirit. So strong in the background, and yet so much in the foreground, the sweetness provides the soulful strength.
