You Can Be So Beautiful!
I simply love vanilla scents. When I discover vanilla in the fragrance notes, I have to test it or often take the plunge with blind buys for affordable fragrances. Luckily, I've had very few missteps so far : ).
So, Red Vanilla by ZARA was also a blind buy. The fragrance notes, the name Red Vanilla, it just has to be a scent for me!
And it is! I love this scent! Mostly, anyway, but I'll get to that later. Right after spraying it, I'm surrounded by a beautiful warm vanilla cloud. It does dissipate quickly (at first) to make room for the fruits, but it comes back just as beautifully later in the fragrance development. The fruits smell delicious! Sweet pears and slightly tart blackcurrant. Simply very beautifully fruity. After about half an hour, this gorgeous warm vanilla note returns, so delectable you could bite into it! This is how the scent remains for a while. In the further development, a very tasty praline note joins in. Patchouli and tonka bean stay very subtle in the background. The scent smells almost always delicious when I wear it.
Now I come to a point that I can't really explain! I've also experienced twice the phenomenon that the scent smelled like a damp, musty cellar shortly after spraying it, and the fruits were moldy! Unfortunately, that stayed the same the whole time. I then looked at what others had written about the scent and had to laugh out loud. Several people here have described the cellar smell! Why it only showed up for me two months after regular use, I don't know. Even now, I'm wearing the scent, and today I smell the delicious fragrance, not the cellar.
The rating of the scent would definitely have been higher if I hadn't made the acquaintance with the musty cellar. I still like it very much and will continue to wear the fragrance. Always hoping it won't be a "cellar day" ; )

Hmm, could it be that you perceive the patchouli strongly on some days? Maybe depending on the temperature, humidity, etc.? That's why it's always important to give fragrances at least 2 chances :-), vanilla trophy for you!
