Candy, snow and earth
The opening reminds me of snow on frozen soil. It's quite earthy and also aquatic, in the sense of freshwater, not the ocean. Then the mint quickly joins in. It's a sweeter kind of mint that is blended with subtle vanilla and coconut. I don't find the overall scent very coconutty though, it's just a touch.
As it dried down, the fragrance turns sweeter and the earthiness of the opening slowly vanishes, but it still feels cool and snowy. In the base it reminds me of a candy called "Eisbonbons" here in Germany. I couldn't find out the English name for them or if they even exist in other countries, but they're very sweet, light blue hard candies with a cooling mint effect.
There is still a very light hint of frozen earth underneath the sweetness, and a touch of dewy florals wraps up the scent and makes it wearable and a tad feminine leaning.
Snowy Owl is one of those Zoologist fragrances that matches the titular animal without smelling too "out there" or animalic. I'm not a big fan of the opening, but the drydown is pretty enjoyable.
This reminds me a little of Sakura by Olympic Orchids at first, but Snowy Owl feels smoother and has a nicer drydown. There are also some similarities to Malle's L'Eau d'Hiver, though the latter is definitely way more sophisticated and would be my top choice for a "snowy" perfume.
