Candied Rose Lokum Served on a Noble Wooden Board...
First of all, a big thank you to Raindrops for the magnificent sample. Sprayed on and again: the house just consistently delivers surprisingly well! This time, however, inspired by the Turkish sweet Lokum. But do you really want to smell like that?
Let's get to the bottom of that question right away, let's get into it:
- With the first spray, this beautiful scent of Lokum truly unfolds; somehow sweet, sugary, but then beautifully underpinned by this raspberry note, also fruity. The blackcurrant floats lightly sweet, fruity, but also subtly green in the background, but the main star remains the Lokum in the opening.
- The opening then gradually fades, with the Lokum and raspberry continuing to carry the scent into the heart note, where the rose takes center stage. A juicy rose that is present but never stands alone, as in the background, the cherry blossom can also be quite perceptible, bringing a certain fresh, slightly powdery character that is balanced with the spiciness of saffron.
- In the drydown, the scent becomes creamy-woody; hard to describe, but it gives the impression of sandalwood, though it could also be something else that gains this creaminess and sweetness through the vanilla; but definitely more creamy-woody. I only perceive the pistachio when I sniff closely, and only because I read about it.
- Longevity and sillage are definitely above average, you can't really complain about almost any scent from this house.
Now, to summarize and return to the initial question: Would you wear this Lokum scent in everyday life? Hmm... probably not for me, it doesn't suit me... but there are definitely many who might enjoy this exciting Lokum-rose-wood combo, as it is effectively never really too sweet, or too woody, or too floral, but very well balanced. You get a beautiful scent progression, starting from this sweet-fruity Lokum note, through a rose note to a woody-creamy drydown.
