My issues were more with the powdery iris; I actually didn't find it too animalic otherwise. But I can understand, it did have a slight cheesy vibe.

Unfortunately, the oud doesn't help the scent; it's just too much of a good thing. It smells like you're sniffing horse manure that's been sprayed with some random leather fragrance. Definitely not my kind of animalic...
