Chanel No. 5 Pour Monsieur
Albeit certainly and unarguably feminine leaning in its opening plushness, there is an air not too dissimilar to my "unofficial" non-Chant Lauder pairing of Lauder for Men/Knowing (a la Devin/Aliage, 900/AE, etc.) without the latter's tuning-fork-to-the-skull effects. The plushness of the aldehydes and floral notes subside, and we are left with a hypnotic soapy iris/vanillic sweetened suede. I think JTD would have certainly enjoyed a write-up on this one.

Never "powdery", but certainly "perfumey" that becomes "cologne-y". Will never become a blockbuster, but as Will C. stated: that isn't the point here.

There's something here for passionate collectors - for everyone else: no "manly" men should fear that in their wardrobes, nor fear wearing it out. Don't be afraid of Chanel 1957 either...

A unisex fragrance with a changeable scent profile
With my sample of "Minneapolis 5.3 | Berceuse Parfum," I was initially very satisfied, and I think this fragrance is unlikely to cause much controversy. Unfortunately, there were moments later on when I found the scent a bit cumbersome. The longevity on my skin is more than 12 hours with a successful sillage.

The top note starts fruity, sweet, aldehydic, soapy, spicy, fresh, and somewhat synthetic with aromas of grape sugar, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. The heart note is floral and powdery with hints of iris, violet, lily of the valley, daffodils, ylang-ylang, orange blossoms, and rose water. I perceive the base as somewhat musty, earthy, balsamic, woody, and leathery with nuances of patchouli, oak moss, sandalwood, vetiver, amber, musk, and suede.

In the end, this chypre unfortunately couldn't fully convince me, as the mustiness bothered me more than I expected.

A True Baruti
As with the debut work Allegretto 7.2 by perfumer Antonio Gardoni, this creation unmistakably bears the signature of its creator - in this case, Spyros Drosopoulos, founder and perfumer of the niche house Baruti from the Netherlands.

Minneapolis 5.3 holds the concentrated power of an opulent chypre, which can initially overwhelm one due to its density and complexity. Behind the seemingly dancing aldehydes lies a deep, almost dark abyss that does justice to the theme of the song by Tom Waits that serves as inspiration. Particularly, the "vibe" of the time when the song was created resonates strongly.
A bit out of time - yet more relevant than ever - a colorful swirl of dark spices and flowers dances around the nose. One almost gets the impression of catching a fleeting moment of light here and there, but immediately finds oneself back in the dark thicket.

Minneapolis 5.3 fits perfectly into the lineup of fragrances released by Baruti so far. It’s almost as if one has the dark-melancholic sister of the sparkling-green "Tindrer | Baruti" or the even darker, forest-dwelling aunt of "Berlin im Winter (Indigo RMX) | Baruti" on the nose. Those who enjoy Spyros' compositions should not miss this fragrance.

The nose behind Baruti is responsible for an accessible powdery rose-leather-cinnamon scent that combines style and fragrance aesthetics.

A non-sweet, spicy-floral chypre sonata in minor. The finely powdered, rough leather note in the base adds character and elegance. Very beautiful!
