Autumn herbs
The bay leaf in the opening is what grabbed my attention. I`d passed through Seoul many times, but I was searching mainly for cosmetics and had no idea that there were any South Korean perfume houses. I didn`t know what to expect; the bottles had an austere, minimalist aesthetic that doesn`t really speak to me, simple glass bottles, clear liquid, black & white labels. It seems to be a typical Korean aesthetic because I`ve ran across very similar designs in another S. Korean brand, Nonfiction.
But that bay leaf! Man. I just wish that opening would last longer. I`m not a huge fan of ambrette, and when it`s paired with musk, it completely defeats me. Here, though, I have a new appreciation for it. It`s spicy, minty-fresh, powdery, savory and green. It`s really intriguing. The combination of herbs and woods makes me think of fall and the spices that would go into a hearty, warm soup.
