Surprised to find how much I like this!
**Parfumo inexplicably rejected my edits to the notes... so for reference, there is not even a hint of balsam in this fragrance. They mistranslated the "lip balm" note (that is clearly referenced on the website) and refuse to change it. So don't go into this expecting any sort of resinous note.
My stream of consciousness review:
I wasn’t so sure about the notes, so I sprayed it on a test strip first. On paper it’s incredibly beachy and fresh. I’m getting a eucalyptus note and some salty ocean air. I’m not usually into marine notes, but I definitely want to try this on skin.
Sprayed at 8am
The alcohol was really strong at first spray, but that died down quickly. This just screams BEACH. I feel a little crazy, but I’m totally getting the lip balm note. It’s kind of like sticky vaseline. I’m also getting a white floral… I think magnolia. But over the top it really smells like a fresh, salty, ocean breeze and maybe a hint of driftwood. This is so pleasant!
At the dry down I’m getting a slight note of bitter orange. It’s not really citrusy though… more like an orange rind. I also think I’m getting the lycra swimsuit note. It’s synthetic, but not offensive (though maybe it’s because I’ve always kind of liked the smell of swimsuits, lol).
40 min in and it’s gotten much creamier. The coconut milk is definitely coming through.
2 hours in and it’s still projecting pretty well. It’s evolved into a slightly musky, yet still creamy, coconut scent. I’m actually shocked at how much I like this. I was kind of skeptical when reading the abstract fantasy notes, but it’s surprisingly wearable. It would be a perfect beachy summer scent, but it’s also fresh enough to be a daily wear fragrance year-round.
3.5 hours in and it’s still projecting pretty well! Though I think I might give it another spray to freshen up. I’m definitely going to want to invest in a small bottle of Halcyon!
