I have a feeling that was the little grape-thyme stinker? I put the "just before laundry day" thing in my quick notes in a much less friendly way 🤭
If I'm feeling brave and the opportunity arises, I'll give it another shot on skin.
Exactly, just that I hardly get any thyme. That's fine, I'll just sip on some wine. 🍷
You only sniffed it on paper, right? I find it incredibly lovely on skin.
Thanks go back to you, dear @Midnights, for the beautiful and refined description; "just before sexy" fits perfectly with the hedonism of Ji Kang... And another thanks goes to @HasenNase for the nudge towards this amazing scent!
It's really different and somehow special. I'm keeping the sample and taking it with me on vacation. Let's see how strong the craving is once the sample is empty. 😉
* Normally, fruits drive me away (Chypre peaches and plums don't count), but the grape works wonderfully here. On the paper strip, the scent remains one-dimensional and a bit dull. However, on the skin, it develops a lovely, purring animalic note that is pleasantly softened by the fruity sweetness. Aldehydes create a friendly distance and polish the surfaces to a high shine. Over time, the grapes start to ferment. Combined with resin, it develops a scent reminiscent of skin just before wash day, half-fresh and sweaty with a sparkling fruity acidity. That might sound creepy, but to my nose, it's incredibly appealing and almost sexy. Styrax keeps the fruity sweetness in check and provides a bitter counterbalance. The contrast between the zesty fruit and dry resin is intriguing. Very soothing, almost narcotic, although the woody base could have been a bit richer. I like it a lot and it could easily be a 9 tomorrow.

Top and bottom. :-)
