This is a light and airy fragrance - different from a lot of others I've tried with similar notes. The clove and cardamom comes through instantly and the incense/frankincense in this is noticeable throughout - citrusy and light. There is also a fresh, aromatic green quality I'm picking up. Beyond the general woodiness, I'm honestly not sure how much of the nuances I'm getting are coming from the palo santo or petitgrain. Many of the notes in this don't distinctly stick over another; everything is just beautifully blended. I don't get any patchouli, which is funny because I'm like a bloodhound when it comes to detecting that note! That's alright; sometimes I like patchouli and sometimes I don't and it's not needed in this anyway. I don't consider this extremely smoky beyond the incense accord, either - it's more like smelling unburned incense, or like a scarf/cloth that has been hanging in a room with burning incense for awhile.
Looking at the notes, you might expect this to be heavy, but Holy Stick is really restrained and I think that's what makes this a good anytime/any weather kind of fragrance, while still having those warm, comforting notes of resins, spices, and woods. Such a beauty.
