Tested blind: Damfool perfumes seem to go through distinct stages. Warbler opens with a big brown and tan haze of dried grasses and hay and tobacco. It’s like traditional Chinese medicine. Very herbal but not in a sharp freshly cut green leaf kind of way. This is more rich and warming. Not your typical gourmand. This perfume is new to me; I bought a comprehensive discovery set from Soul Fortune, a HK based retailer, and am working my way through it. Stele describes Nandescent’s work as giving NPC energy but these perfumes are BIG and your face. Like Bertrand Duchaufor big. Now I love big vintage perfumes but the unfamiliar ingredients, super herbal camphorous medicinal nature of these is really challenging me. Colour me intrigued though. It’ll take me a long while to work my way through this gargantuan set.
