The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

With iris, I always become attentive; I like it in all variations: sweet, carroty, slightly earthy... As long as it's powdery! So I was of course very excited when I heard about the Danner & Flemming fragrances.
However, this one is not primarily an iris scent for me, even though iris is definitely included. It appears waxy and less powdery, but hidden. The scent is very spicy, woody, and fruity on me - actually not at all my preferred fragrance direction!

The opening, or the first 2 to 3 minutes, is not really my thing. I perceive a very prominent, sweet raspberry and almost nothing else. The berry completely overshadows everything at this point... But then the berry becomes very quiet, and I can hardly smell it later on, which makes me very happy. Instead, the fruity note now comes from a lovely juicy mandarin/satsuma/orange, very soft and beautiful. Finally, a fruit note that I like, without that artificial undertone that I usually find in fruity scents.
The longer the fragrance is on the skin, the more spice comes through, along with a nice woody accent. I really enjoy the combination with the wonderful fruit! And the scent is beautifully close to the skin, yet lasts a long time. Sprayed on early, I can smell it until the evening hours.

I am really glad that the raspberry fades away quickly for me; otherwise, it would probably be too shrill/too overly cheerful/too forced for me in the long run. The balance of fruit and wood strikes a similar chord to "Perle Impériale (Eau de Parfum) | Guerlain," even though the fragrances themselves are completely different (it’s probably just the combination of fruit and wood that I find exceptionally beautiful in both).
Overall, this iris variant turns out to be almost my favorite of the three Danner & Flemming fragrances, which really surprises me!

The scents from this house do tend to polarize a bit. You like it better again. Enjoyed reading this.
