Sparkling grapefruit

I’m usually a bit wary of fruity fragrances as they often smell cloying and artificial on me. This opens with a lovely, sparkling grapefruit balanced with black pepper to give depth and spiciness. After a few minutes, slight floral notes appear but the lovely citrus and spice combination remains strong. A couple of hours later, soft warm and woody notes appear and blend with the citrus and spices. This is a lovely summer fragrance and definitely reminds me of warm late nights/early mornings on holiday in the Mediterranean.

This should have been so very nice...

I was so excited for All Night Until First Light. The notes looked like sure winners in my book, and who doesn't want to feel like they're watching the sunrise on a beach in Ibiza after dancing the night away? The initial blast of boozy grapefruit was lovely, but it quickly settled into a very musty black pepper. Disgusting. I tried to wait it out to see if continued to evolve, but I just couldn't do it. I had to scrub it. My sorrow knows no bounds.

Grapefruit Heaven

What a delicious photorealistic grapefruit! You get the bitterness from the zest, sweetness from the flesh and overall everything great about the fruit. In the initial spray you get a slight depth from the saffron, and after a short while you get the dry vetiver, but for the first hour or so this is a completely unisex grapefruit fragrance.

After a couple of hours you have a more woody fragrance. It blends with the white flower and smells more like a grapefruit shower gel in a way. Not that I say that as a bad thing, but it feels a bit boring when it comes to this. I want more of the pepper and rum, but it absolutely is a great clean scent.

An hour after this it has changed into a more masculine leaning almost fougere. The grapefruit has taken a more earthy step forward into an aromatic vibe, and that is how it stayes. And it does stay. The day after, almost 24 hours after my first spritz I can still smell it if I sniff on my arm, that is amazing. So even though this one is not for me personally I can’t wait for someone else to smell like this!
