Throughout my collecting history, I have indeed undergone a transformation. At first, I was drawn to sweet gourmands, then I worked my way through coffee and leather to oud. Nowadays, I also appreciate scents that I have to "work for" olfactorily. I find complex creations with unusual fragrance notes very exciting, and I enjoy exploring their path and story.
Ganymede by Marc-Antoine Barrois is exactly such a fragrance. It doesn’t reveal itself immediately and exists beyond any classic DNA. But is it so intriguing that I would want to pay over €100 for 30 ml? Not really. And so, I unexpectedly found myself with Celestial by Emir. A kind Parfumo provided me with a sample, and after a few days of intense wearing, it became clear that the bottle would also be joining my collection.
Celestial starts with a lot of impact. Cool, fresh, mineral notes, fine leather, and that unmistakable herbal scent of the straw flower, reminiscent of a dry summer meadow, create a unique composition here. This makes Celestial, just like the OG, not a classic floral scent. I envision a garden shed where hay is also stored. Outside it’s hot, but in the shed, it’s cool, and it smells of hay and the metal of the harvesting tools.
Celestial lasts a long time and projects strongly, but fortunately not as much as the OG, which can sometimes cause headaches. In terms of similarity, both are incredibly close to each other. C will not be my favorite scent, nor one that I will wear very often, but on special days when I feel like it, I will be happy to have added this fragrance to my collection for just under €25.
