Unfortunately, my Oud Yusuf was empty. But I like the sound of Oud Yusuf from the description, as long as it's different enough from Yusuf Royale in the end.
It's not one of my favorite notes, but as long as it's not too sweet, I'm open to it in most cases. I've experienced lavender in three different EO scents with different effects, so at least it wasn't too boring ;)
Like with the Assam, lavender is still a big focus, but in a different form. This one is overall much tamer, lighter, and more accessible. The resinous quality is much more prominent here, starting with a bright resin (towards cola) and later becoming a bit darker with some smokiness. The amber is also less animalic, more balsamic-woody in character. Interestingly, this also reminds me of another ALD fragrance. While the Assam's dry down reminded me of Aquillaria Blossom, here the bright resin, the way the amber appears, and especially the darker resin on my arm (the scent is overall lighter on paper than on my skin) reminds me in some parts of Atlantic Ambergris 2. On paper, the similarity is weaker and more distant. The Assam was more exciting due to its stronger nature.
Mentally, I'm leaning a bit towards 7.75 because this scent reminds me more of AA2 than EO Assam. I think the idea behind the line is to have a similar version of the original scent with a bit of variation. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the original to evaluate it accurately. Honestly, I'm not sure if I would need it compared to Assam or AA2.
