Solar Canopy Future Society 2023

Lychees in the middle of a tropical jungle
My second favorite from the new house, Future Society and arguably one of the most realistic lychee scents I’ve ever smelled. It reminds me of harvesting raw lychee berries in the tropical brush of Thailand.
If you’ve ever eaten or tasted fresh lychee, you know they have a bit of a strange and sour “funk” to them, especially when they’re super ripe. Solar Canopy does an excellent job at capturing that natural “twang” of a real lychee and pairs it with a diverse offering of notes, like rose, pistachio, sugar, vetiver, etc. It’s sweet, floral, slightly aromatic, slightly fresh, and strong. In the sun, the magnolia + rose really bloom, and as the scent dries down, the sugar note really comes out. It’s very unique and pretty. The rose + lychee is reminiscent of the combo you smell in PDM Delina, but SC is less powdery, more tropical, and feels slightly less refined, which I think that’s adds to the appeal and realism of this scent.
One thing Future Society didn’t slack on is how strong they made these scents. Just a few sprays of their fragrances and you’ll have a scent bubble that’ll last you most of the day. SC works best on a more humid day, with lots of sun and breeze as you can experience the full capacity and beauty of it. While the scent is complex on its own, it’s a great one to layer with other scents as well. I think it would pair well with woody notes, gourmand notes, or green notes (to really kick up that jungle vibe!).
