Chypre - Barbershop - Water - Pure
So, a barbershop chypre of pure water and presumably of older date, smiling at me from a well-preserved mini. I couldn't quickly determine the year of release, but anything after the mid-60s of the last century would surprise me here...
Yes, this is how grandpa smelled (if he had known this fragrance and hadn't used Hattric or Tabac). Unapologetically old-fashioned, and therefore so appealing to my nose. Leathery, spicy, masculine. Period. No modern metrosexual experiments and perversions, but the essence of what was understood as "masculinity" back then. The chypre aspect only appears at the beginning in the form of citrus notes in homeopathic doses; be that as it may, the developing oakmoss overkill makes up for it.
As I said, a completely outdated fragrance, and precisely for that reason historically interesting and educational. Essentially a "primordial cell" of diverse compositions. So far, my comment as the obviously only one who knows this fragrance in this forum, and heaven help me if I am corrected and the release year of "Tabacco d'Harar" is significantly pushed into the future. How embarrassing would that be for me...
