A Solid Leyte Oud Oil

Imperial Oud Malindang.

Among the best Philippino oud oils out there, no doubt. A co-distillation of aquilaria cumingiana and aquilaria gyrinops, rendering a two-fold scent profile to the oil. The first half is dominated by the cumingiana profile. Deeply resinous, a bit earthy, adorned with cocoa notes and green mango, and just the faintest camphoraceous eucalyptus touch. The second half, is my favorite, as the gyrinpos traits are in full display. That creamy, yellow floral, aquamarine signature only that for this Philippino variety, it is a bit more muddy, not as crystal clear as the Walla ones. A beautiful oil, even though not among my favorites. The deep and sweet resinous quality testifies to the quality of the wood that went into the pot. A crystal clear oil throughout. Nothing blurry in here. A two-sided oud oil with a color spectrum that spans deep browns, blues, and greens.
