Tried so hard, but it was a synthetic candle to me
I'm starting off my Jousset journey with this one. Tried so hard to love it since so many people really seem to be enjoying it, but it failed miserably on my skin.
First thing: it smelled like an artificial candle you get at a home goods shop. Cheap, synthetic, a struggling vanilla that tries to smell like extract but fails spectacularly. I was so turned off by it. Somewhere after the hour mark, it tries to turn caramel-like, a bit burnt and golden-like, but the synthetic, artificial aspect is so strong, it didn't work for me. It starts getting woody afterwards and the sandalwood just further reinforced that candle-like aspect while adding some creaminess to the scent. That's when I started getting the vanilla frosting, cupcake thing that some people are getting from this fragrance, but it's still buried under the synthetic, artificial part.
Unfortunately, this is a rough start for Jousset. I really didn't enjoy any parts of this fragrance and I'm wondering if I'm gonna be getting artificial from it since it's definitely a skin chemistry, "me" problem. We'll see as I go further in Jousset territory!
