Caution, Risk of Confusion: Vesna in Shibuya. Or Vojna and the Shiba
Aida looked at me expectantly. “These are your favorite dogs, right?”
“You mean Shiba Inus? Over 9000!” But I just couldn't grasp this gift; the connections refused to reveal themselves to me. A Karl? Is that supposed to be a Lagerfeld? A bit nervously, I fumble with the thick paper-like sticker that adorns the vessel with rounded corners and toss it back and forth between my hands.
Aida hands me a few lemons. “Sour makes fun!” She is right, as she often is; the wisdom of… no, the youth - goes back to none other than my little sister.
And yet. Tft tft = poke poke.
I didn't imagine it like this.
A phone call pulls me out of my thoughts. Like any normal person, I first google the number and then decide to call back.
“Is this Vojna? Vojna Vladimirovna?” “No. Vesna Volodymyrovna. You must have dialed the wrong number.” What kind of joke is this? “Oh. Please forgive me. These letters with special characters. Yes, indeed, Vesna. That fits. Please give me your customer number and date of birth so I can process your request.” “Excuse me, what?! You called ME.” “Oh, right! You don’t need to tell me your date of birth. Congratulations, Vojna!” “Vesna. V E S N A, like spring.” “Oh, my apologies. But you are a bit early for that.” “Ijaaaah, I’ve heard that one already, besides, it’s two months too late for Christmas. That’s just how it is. For some, it’s spring and there are crystalline pink flowers from Versace in the air, for others…” (In the background, Okean Elzy is playing… ‘What will be in the minds of young people tomorrow? One will have hope, another fear.*’)
For others, cities are confused with dogs, but the similarities are obvious:
Japan as the home of Shiba Inus and Shibuya. Has anyone ever seen a Shiba eat cherry blossoms? I haven’t, so I might assume that they don’t grow in Shibuya either.
But every dog loves to fetch sticks, including Yoshi, one of the cutest Shiba Inus in the world, regardless of what material these sticks are made of. You need patience with Shibas, but hours later it might happen that he not only brings back one stick but also a little extra. Stick Bros. He’s just a good boy. Aida nods. “A no-brainer that you can love!” Yes, at least one. Hopefully, spring won’t take too long to arrive. It’s cold.

They are really sweet - a mix of wolf and little fox, your Shiba Inus. Definitely a bit spoiled and little divas like Choupette, the mother of all divas;-) I hope that spring brings more sunshine and a new peace to the world soon.
Anyone who has ever stuck their nose into a Shiba's fur (and then had to use a lint roller to get all the hair off their clothes, face, and top) never wants anything else. Shibas smell wonderful, almost as good (on a similar level) as cats! Maybe the zoologist has already released a Shiba scent - and I've bought up all the batches 😄.
:) I like stick brooches in my fragrances. The more, the better. Yoshi would have a lot to do with that. The Zoo should really consider releasing a Shibu scent.
