Upon first spray, immediately a deep resinous sweetness with a little spice. Not getting the grapefruit at all on my skin, which is interesting but I don't really mind.
As it dries down, I'm realizing very quickly that this won't be for me (too sweet, even if not classically so, and would become overwhelming if I smelled it on myself all day) but that I'd LOVE to smell this on someone else. I'm picturing meeting for coffee in cold weather and catching the scent when exchanging hellos and hugs; warm, grounding, inviting. Or smelling it on a stranger at a bookstore as they step politely (but closely) past you to reach for a book.
The sillage is nothing crazy, which works for something so deep. The longevity is good, even as an edt, I can still smell it lingering gently on my skin 8 hours later. The scent itself doesn't change much on me over time (other than fading) maintaining the same dark sweetness with a touch more of the ambrette and a touch less of spice.
Overall, really love this scent and am definitely putting it in the "buy for my lover" category :)
