Impressive Citrus Amber
A friend of mine was the first to introduce me to Kim Kardashian Gold. She carried the bottle and the matching lotion with her wherever she went. My initial observation after smelling it on her and from the cap, was that it smelt like a pleasant, ambery white floral, a little sweeter than the first Kim Kardashian fragrance.
My first testing was very brief so I couldn't write a review at that point in time. I revisited Gold a few days ago, and was surprised to find it quite citrusy and fresh. I did not recall Gold being anything other than flowers and sweet amber, so the citrus top notes totally threw me. I had to re-think this fragrance and start from scratch.
The grapefruit, bergamot and pink pepper give Gold a really bright, sparkly opening. There is a floral heart, however it is not a white floral blend that I smell, but a dominant note of rose. The rose is sweet and soapy on my skin.
The drydown is comprised of rich, syrupy amber, lush patchouli, creamy sandalwood and vanillary benzoin. This blend is quite warm, so I would recommend Gold as a night-time fragrance.
I do still prefer Kim's first fragrance, however I find Gold to be pleasant, feminine and wearable. The projection can sometimes be a little overpowering, although I must admit that on my friend it did leave a lovely trail. The longevity is also rather impressive.
