Green
Color of hope
Falling cherry blossoms in the rain
An abandoned wooden temple
Small smoke boats in the water
Contemplative silence
***
This fragrance is so much more to me than the story in the shop suggests.
It is sorrow over transience, and at the same time hope.
It can do something that I have only known from Lutens' 'De Profundis' so far.
It can help process grief.
In terms of scent, it is of course completely different, but it carries a similar message.
It is an anchor when you face the pain,
threatening to sink into melancholy and sadness.
***
The cherry blossoms are wilting,
washed from the branches by the rain
and covering the ground.
With the moisture of the rain, the green begins to sprout.
Look outside.
It is happening right now.
***
It is a scent of silence,
just for me.
Inner reflection.
If I were to wear it among people,
it would be to a funeral.
***
A wooden temple,
just filled with people,
now stands abandoned.
A forest grave...
The urn buried beneath a Japanese cherry blossom tree. A blossom branch on it is wilting.
Juicy green, nourished by the rain, and many tears, slowly covers the grave mound.
Within the green is also an unpleasant moment.
The pain of loss.
Small wooden boats with incense drift past a stream.
Souls on journeys into another form of existence.
The incense mist wraps around you like a protective blanket.
Time of forgetting,
of inner reflection,
of acceptance.
Everything will be alright.
***
A powdery-floral hint of cedar permeates the air...
Carrying sprouting green within it...
It is spring again in Kyoto,
the cherry blossoms will soon bloom again.
The gravesite full of life.
You were loved.
***
Ex morte, vita renascitur
From death, life is reborn.
You can't imagine how much your words touch me today...
The memorial service was in her beautiful garden, and now she rests in the forest cemetery.
Thank you for that 🙏
Your text resonates with me deeply - that's just how it is... in the profound feeling of what you indirectly celebrate in this text, one can sense the other side of the coin, and it's exactly this side that is speaking here... very touching, dear one.
I once visited Kyoto and found the city quite fascinating with its mix of traditional architecture and brutal new buildings.
The most beautiful and fitting to your words would have been that one Zen garden.

Your description really touched me! De Profundis is a fragrance that can capture a special mood. I can easily imagine how this one can do the same. "It’s an anchor when you face pain, threatening to sink into melancholy and sadness." A comfort for the soul. Thank you for that, dear Gandix!
Beautiful comment... it makes me curious, and I wonder if this scent could help me overcome my grief. I miss Ruby so much... every day.
De Profundis was also that kind of scent, just as you mentioned.
Only a new puppy would help. It's not her, but a little personality of your own that fills the empty space in your heart. When the time is right, she might send you one. 🤗😘
A wonderful description! Thank you for that! I completely agree about the similar message to "De Profundis." I don't find it that green, but it's very comforting in all its melancholy, yes. I'm afraid if I test it again, it'll end up on my wish list too.
I can relate to this "introspective (resting)" feeling all too well. When a fragrance triggers this almost therapeutic reflex (soul-soother), you've made a significant find. I like the melancholic still life you've painted, and the scent might appeal to me as well. Enjoyed reading this.
Adding it to my wish list.
Thank you.
There is a longing that never fades. 🪷
