Cola Oud Masterpiece!
Crazy Malaysian oud Spiced cola fragrance that is ridiculously heavy. This left a noticeable wet and oily mark on my skin where sprayed for 2+ hours after application, potent stuff!
From what I’ve read it’s fairly typical for Malayasian Oud to have this cola type of scent to it, and that’s the most dominant note in the fragrance lifespan for me. It begins with a strong nail polish remover/acetone blast that sharp and volatile, but not unpleasant at all. Vaporous and piercing, like the fumes of a manicure happening next to you.
After 5 minutes it almost completely goes away and settles to a spicy, peppery, slightly bitter cola. I believe some the of the peppery and fumed type of feeling I get could be contributed to the white ambergris in the composition too. If I knew my spices better and could differentiate it I would say which ones I’m smelling, but overall the melange of them just smells like the most artisanal craft cola you can get in the Pacific Northwest, being drank 100ft away from a smoky bonfire.
The cola scent is definitely slightly cherry red feeling, maybe like a deep red amber kind of vibe. After an hour or so the leathery smell comes in addition to the cola. The cola really never leaving the scent, only have big different other facets added and subtracted throughout. This also isn’t your sports car luxury leather, I get more of a warm live animal fur, or something along the lines of a raw hide. It mixes beautifully with the slightly resinous dark notes that I think I can contribute to the Thai Oud.
This one is super long lasting. I went to bed after a couple hours of sniffing my arm and woke up to my wrist still having Fiber popping off it. 6-8 hours in the leather has gone and I get a dried fruit and incense combo, of course mixed with the cola scent. Everything is really taken to the next level for me when the Black Meat sandalwood becomes noticeable to me. It’s so unbelievably creamy and sweet, making the cola more like a float in the end. My absolute favorite part of the wearing.
Fiber is thick and persistent too. Even after 8 hours and a shower I was still able to get the smell of it on my wrists. Nice dry fruit and resinous ambery cola still saying hello to me the day after. Take all this with a grain of salt as my experience with oud is so minimal, but this is a beautiful oud composition in my eyes!
