A nice but generic citrus woody fragrance - inexpensive but nothing special

The One and Only is the second citrus woody perfume from Majouri that I have reviewed on Parfumo. Blue Desert is the other one. Blue Desert and The One and Only share many features, including the perfumer. Majouri considers itself a Parisian brand, infused with oriental tastes and accords. It is also a brand that is being discounted heavily these days. Think of it as discount-rack Essential Parfums. But there is value to be had if you find a fragrance you like. For me, Oriental Soul from them is good value for $40 on Jomashop.

The One and Only is another inexpensive serviceable woody citrus perfume, like Blue Desert. Blue Desert leans citrus while The One and Only is more woody. The official notes listed on the sample card are lemon, mandarin, bergamot, rosemary, lily of the valley, nutmeg, cedarwood, musk and vanilla. The citrus in The One and Only is very fleeting before the other notes come up. The heart notes are a nice blend of rosemary, lily of the valley, musk and vanilla, though a bit generic. The ending is more woody than herbaceous with vanilla and musk still hanging around. It shows very good longevity on my skin. The One and Only is pleasant enough for its cost, though you may already have a similar generic citrus woody scent in your collection. You can get a 75 ml bottle for $37 on Jomashop.

Please remember that the cheap generic perfumes in your collection seldom get used. If you have a great elegant and expensive perfume in your collection, why would you reach for a cheap generic fragrance? So, I am not really sure about The One and Only. It is not a bad deal for $37, but it lacks a strong personality. It doesn’t have a strong fennel as in Maison Francis Kurkdjian Media Cologne Forte nor a strong lemon grass as in Xerjoff Fiero. Mostly, it has a shaving cream vibe with some cedar accents. I will wait to make a decision until after I test Majouri’s Noor Neroli.
