From the outset, Ambre de noir hits hard and might be too much at first.
You will notice immediately that it is a well-crafted fragrance; it has some spice notes and some deep resinous notes in the base of the scent.
Once it settles, this is where the "Noir" aspect of the scent shows itself to its fullest potential. The presence of oud and labdanum creates a very smoky and earthy note. The sweetness of this fragrance is subdued; this fragrance has more of a medicinal, balsamic style of richness as opposed to vanilla sugar.
At this point in time, this fragrance assumes its most prominent position. It develops into a soft, lovely skin-like glow, or "Second Skin", and lasts throughout the day. The overall feeling of wearing this fragrance is that of nobility, enigma, and great comfort.
