An expedition to the forests at the foot of the Himalayas
Vetiver is the main component of VAR. The perfumers incorporated a variety of its types (South Indian, Haitian, and absolute) just to create a "dazzlingly multilayered" vetiver experience.
But it isn't simply a dry, simple vetiver, but intensely green, wood and aromatic.
The begin with an outburst of realistic, green notes, perfume accords of pine (Aragon pine, Himalayan silver fir), aromatic grass, and the only hint of a citrus-like spice from Himalayan sil timur that unraveled across notes in ARC of that same brand. In the dry-down, it remains woody, deep and anchored by Mysore sandalwood, cypriol, and a smattering of Oud Laos, which added rustic earthy depth instead of a skanky or medicinal quality.
VAR is an old classic fougere scent, that smells green but still has an unyielding sweetness, with an earthy, powdery accord that rounds out the subtle. It is artistic and sophisticated and evokes a vivid sense of a calm, damp mountain forest.
