I dare to write my first review, actually only because the text would become too short for a statement. I don't feel capable of reviewing the individual ingredients, their interplay, and the overall composition. I simply have too little knowledge of the subject.
So why Arabian King? After being so thrilled by Orange Flamingo last year, impressed by its mega longevity and almost overpowering projection, I followed the Gebauer fragrances on YouTube. With the name Arabian King, I thought of some killer Oud bomb, and since I can't handle Oud at all, the scent was initially completely uninteresting to me. After reading the negative comments about the fragrance (I would even say some were hating), I thought to myself, wait a minute, it was the same with Flamingo. Then I watched the Fragrance Dawg's review of the King. OK, according to Dwag, Oud is only at the beginning and not too intense, later drifting into a light hint of Barbershop...okay...the King might be worth a test. So I got a small sample here, which I picked up from the mailbox yesterday afternoon (thanks again to the Souk partner Jixaz) and set it aside. When I came home from the gym in the evening, I treated myself to a spray on my forearm. Wow, the King took off like a rocket!! My whole apartment smelled of the King shortly thereafter! The Oud at the beginning I actually found quite pleasant, not barnyard Oud, it has more of a gentle quality. A little later, the rose, the iris, and my beloved cedarwood, the slow development of the scent pleased me, and when I later lay in bed, my forearm was still radiating strongly. I could perceive that light touch of Barbershop, which I liked.
What’s really amazing is that about 25 hours ago I sprayed the King, this morning I did a quick wash. Earlier in training, I thought, "What smells so good all the time?" I realized it was the King on my forearm. And despite a thorough shower this evening after training...it’s still there, still faintly detectable. That’s really brutal!
Conclusion: I find the scent really good, but I still wouldn’t buy it. Why?
I simply lack the occasions to wear such a brutal powerhouse.
For work? I wouldn’t want to subject my - now somewhat hardened - colleagues to that.
In enclosed spaces? I wouldn’t dare, it’s too strong for that.
If it were available in a 30ml bottle...hmm...then maybe on a reckless shopping evening, but I would definitely never finish the 100ml before I die.
Final word: A good scent, unfortunately just a tad too strong for me.
Stay clean and healthy!
Hahaha, he actually said "glazz Heidewitzka." And I thought I was the only one on the planet who says that. 😂😂
Great description of the King, totally spot on.
Well summarized! It's really intense, especially in terms of longevity! I think a little spritz in the evening is definitely fine, just to relax. 😅 But it's not for everyone. However, for an oud fragrance, as you mentioned, it's quite pleasant.
Btw, thanks for the mention, feel free to do it anytime again! 🥰
