At the café on Palermo
Strolling through the alleys of the Sicilian capital, I enjoy my coffee. Looking out over the Porto di Palermo on a balmy summer evening. The scent of blooming citrus trees, between alleys of picturesque leather crafts, I settle in front of the Teatro Massimo and watch the people. Under palm trees, woods warmed by the sun's rays paired with the flying spice of cardamom, a hint of coriander joins in, caressing noses like a soft leather couch supporting Italian bergamot helping the orange-lime tandem to lift through the streets of Ballarò market. Some cedar and patchouli add character to the Byzantine mosaics. As I put on my sunglasses, one last citrus rush before drifting on the Mediterranean towards the sunset. A summer masterpiece.
