Classic Soaked Thai Goodness
I want to preface, this is my fourth oud oil I’ve tried and the first from the mesOUD sample set, so take this with a grain of salt as it’s coming from an Oud amateur.
On the opening there’s a clear soaked/fermented smell to me, nothing overwhelming. It’s this chocolaty bittersweet honey type opening that’s feels like it’s bubbling off your skin. Has a barnyard type note that leans leathery and smoky, not downright fecal but certainly approaching it.
As it dries down the barnyard aspects die down drastically, allowing this gorgeous dusty medicinal leather type accord to shine. Little bit of a bitter citrus like an orange zest in the background too. So far this oil is extremely loud, projecting off the skin hard and filling up my head with warm oudy goodness. Overall a wonderful soaked chocolaty, leather, smoky, sweet, funky, and delectable classic oud for a banger of a price.
