First of all, the quality is truly top-notch.
The opening hits you with the Assam, and you really have to like it. Definitely not for Oud beginners (I think many newcomers would describe it as very stinky.). The quality of the Assam Oud is incredibly good. Additionally, the scent in the opening is dry, warm, and very woody. What really takes center stage is the Assam Oud. I also perceive this oily, petrol-like component of the Assam. The other notes round it out and don't come through as strongly for me. In the drydown, I can then very distinctly pick up the juniper. It gives the whole thing a bit of a coniferous forest vibe. The Assam Oud becomes softer and the "stinky" aspect recedes. All in all, a really very high-quality, beautifully composed Oud fragrance that transforms wonderfully.
