Headaches, Intergalactic Love & Earthly Hate

At the age of 17, Alien became my daily companion. Today, at 24 and with a greater selection, I no longer reach for the intergalactic creature every day, yet the love has not faded. One often reads "not of this world," something that some can identify with well.
When talking to people, Alien is often said to be their headache trigger. "Too heavy," "Stinks," "You smell it too often." As hated as Alien is, it has enjoyed equal popularity.

With Alien, there is no middle ground. Alien is an all-in. Either you LOVE it or you HATE it.

For Alien reflects, like hardly any other mainstream scent, how important chemical processes on the skin, OCCASION (!!) & scent aura can be.
Dosage and wearer must be right; otherwise, it ends in an olfactory fiasco that becomes noticeable in the head. High summer in the tram with 4+ sprays? Please no! But how often has this happened to us already? The beautiful subtleties & the originality of this beast are lost.
How unfortunate it is that Alien has fallen so much into disrepute, although the scent is hard to surpass in genius. Another galaxy based on only 3 notes? Art.

In hardly any other scent does this societal olfactory misstep become so noticeable.
As misplaced as Alien seems to most people, most lovers do not understand it either. Meanwhile, the division between Alien-hate & Alien-love is continuously maintained.
Dear Alien-haters: Your reasons for hating the scent are valid, but please consider the fragrance independently of the person during your next visit to the perfumery. Evaluate it, despite personal aversion, based on its original intention to convey something otherworldly and throw the stigmas overboard.

It is time to rediscover this Douglas exotic in a sea of 0815 vanilla & flowers.

4 sprays of the old formulation would have really sent anyone to space. Now it’s noticeably weaker, and I’ve actually worn 3/4 sprays in the store. (I gradually increased it because I had the old one, and 1 spray was really enough back then.) 2/3 sprays are absolutely fine. It’s no longer a beast, but rather a tamed little creature now.

I didn't know he had become so tame. It's a shame how all the fragrances have lost their power in recent years :( I guess I need to take extra care of my 2017 batch.

I don't wear Alien as often as I used to, but I still like it. ;-) I enjoyed reading your comment; there are definitely much worse "stinkers" out there than Alien. *wink*

Thank you :) Yes, there are definitely worse stinkers! But it seems Alien is in the top 3 for most people. Strangely, no one seems to mind La Vie est Belle. Yes to LVEB and no to Alien? An outrageous social paradox!
