Like many of my perfumes, I got Alien Musc Mysterieux from a staff sale at the airport. I first smelled it there 6 months ago but, for some reason, didn’t take it with me. I was deeply annoyed in the car, but I didn’t want to pay the full price of £115 in regular retail. Today, I was lucky that another sale was taking place. Since today was the last day of the sale, unfortunately, not much was left, and I only saw the tester of AMM. I was mega disappointed and was extremely upset that I hadn’t gone to the sale a few days earlier. While waiting in line at the checkout (just a casual 30 minutes in line), I spotted a shiny silver packaging on the side and instinctively reached for it. I could hardly believe it, but I had just snagged the last AMM. I, of course, took it with me for £50. What a bargain.
AMM is very different from many other scents I own. It is much spicier, more oriental, and more mysterious than many of my perfumes, but I liked it immediately.
You can definitely recognize the typical Alien DNA of jasmine and cashmeran woods, even though the scent needs a certain time to settle before you can truly identify this DNA. But it is definitely there. AMM is immediately much spicier, and I can definitely smell the saffron. The musk, to be honest, gets a bit lost for me; I can’t really pick it out. It’s too spicy for that. It is by no means as sweet as Alien, but the included vanilla allows for a certain sweetness that rounds out the scent. A wonderfully spicy, oriental, and animalistic fragrance that captivates the senses.
AMM is definitely something for those who like it strong and noticeable. The scent is very present, and once sprayed on, you can’t escape it. You stand out and don’t spare those around you from this fantastic scent. It lasts very long on me, but I generally find that such spicy-strong fragrances cling longer to me. I think it’s really great. A slightly different Alien. Although I think it won’t be for many. It is by no means another sugary water that seemingly every second woman wears. I think it fits a bit into the Tom Ford fragrance line, and anyone who likes Tom Ford scents should definitely check out AMM.
I’m glad I discovered it after all and look forward to adding this little treasure to my collection.
For me, it leans a bit towards the Estée Lauder Mystique direction, but softer and more comforting. Definitely very fine and omnipresent. "Present" is absolutely my trophy for your description ;-)!
