Farina, the brand founder and one of the more well-known influencers in Germany, has accompanied me virtually for almost a decade.
A few years ago, she would hold bronzing powder or powder pink lipsticks up to the phone camera - not infrequently, I would rush to the nearest perfumery and buy the mentioned products. A bit like being Farina.
Since then, several years have passed. With the increasing number of gray hairs in my mane, my impulse control for repurchases has (thankfully!) also grown, while the desire to imitate has drastically decreased.
Today, I still enjoy following Farina on Instagram from time to time. So it happened that I couldn't ignore the launch of her first perfume - my feed was practically plastered with announcements.
As expected, the scent description of "14" did not convince me. I love gourmand, sweet fragrances, creamy scents. "14" is supposed to remind one of fresh laundry - no big surprise for those who have been following Farina for a bit longer.
Nevertheless, it was clear to me that I wanted to test this fragrance in some form. Since I cannot count myself among the lucky ones who received a perfume (including a engraved bottle cap, which by the way does not come standard with the scent) personally sent by Farina, I had to rely on my friend Lea.
Lea loves fresh scents and boom, she ordered "14" at the first opportunity. And I, in turn, got to test it at the first opportunity with her.
The bottle is nice to look at and feels high-quality, but it is nothing special (and nothing that I would expect to come at such a price).
Now let's get to the scent. Upon spraying, an extremely artificial, extremely loud rose comes to the forefront - no, it doesn't just come forward, it pushes its way to the front row. Strident, loud, almost piercing. Shortly thereafter, nuances of woods and musk follow, which are hard for me to describe, somehow indefinable, spicy-earthy, and leaning towards the masculine.
With this masculine spiciness, the scent settles on my skin and before it can develop, it has already vanished.
The longevity of this perfume is, in my view, very below average. I must admit that I have not regretted this fact at all. Rather, I was glad that the scent was no longer lingering in my nose.
I have worn "14" a total of three times, trying to give it a new chance twice - without success. It remains a scent that is hard for me to understand, a pale fragrance without refinement and footprint on my skin.
Yes, due to the scent direction, I already knew before the first sniff that "14" would very likely not become my new favorite fragrance. I am still disappointed, as the perfume has clearly fallen short of my expectations.
A high-quality, well-thought-out scent would have been expected and appropriate for this price, in my opinion.
Sorry, but all I can say is: Marketing 1, Scent 0.
