08/15 but different. So 08/16?

Once again, a fragrance from the category "Never heard of it" and "Not beautiful, but rare."

The brand was completely unknown to me until now, and I hadn't noticed it in any collection or review here on Parfumo. I came across this sample through an order from a perfumery. Since I find unknown brands quite exciting and feel that impressions need to be shared within the community, I couldn't resist writing something here.

To mention upfront, the fragrance doesn't bring anything new; it smells like hundreds before it and won't score points for its special quality or creation. Theoretically, it could even be a scent from Zara, even though the bottle looks more like something from Rituals or Narciso Rodriguez.

Primarily, it is a fresh-woody scent. On the test strip, it somewhat devolves into the typical 08/15 fragrance without any real highlights. A mix of citrus fruits starts off quite intensely, without coming across as too sweet or too citrusy. Quite quickly, the woody component joins in, dominated by cedar. Nutmeg also makes an appearance, adding a cooling note to the liquid that subtly resonates in the background. After a few minutes, you can also detect some notes of vetiver. This brings a damp impression to the fragrance, which is generally very linear and shows no significant development.

The fragrance only becomes interesting because the violet leaf makes its appearance at a certain point, adding a minimal floral note behind the fresh wood. Just a small but fine difference, yet with quite a significant effect.

Surprisingly, the sillage is quite present in the first hour, but then quickly seeks to disappear. Longevity is within the normal range of six to eight hours on my skin.

Now the question arises whether it is worth spending more than 1 euro per ml for this fragrance. For me, not really. Because it is not significantly different from other fragrances. OK, the violet leaf note lifts it a bit out of the ordinary, and it does appear quite elegant in its impression. However, I doubt that the price for this type of fragrance is truly justified.
