My Valencia vacation discovery
As a perfumer, I always keep my eyes and nose open for new fragrances, even when I'm on vacation. And everywhere, even in the local supermarket.
In Valencia, I stumbled across this small, inconspicuous bottle. Sprayed it on and took it straight away.
For a paltry €5, you get exactly what it says on the tin - orange blossom with all the leaves attached, i.e. petitgrain, which, unlike neroli, is extracted not only from the blossoms but also from the leaves of the bitter orange.
The fragrance is very linear, there is no development. It simply smells green-citrusy like orange blossom, orange and greenery from the beginning to the end. Very fresh and invigorating, which was just right in the hot and humid climate of Valencia. I didn't wear anything else all week and bought a second bottle just before I left. But at that price, it doesn't hurt at all. Nor does the fact that, as a freshie, you can spray it on once more a day.
If you like orange blossom/neroli/petitgrain in its pure form and green-citrus fragrances in general, this is a real bargain.
