Mausoleum Reverence
Crypt Keeper opens with incense and what I assume is patchouli for the "soil" accord. It has sweet and medicinal nuances, so much that I thought there might also be a wine or cherry note in here. Over time, I get more of the cedar and amber, and musk in the late dry down. The incense wafts in and out as it develops. The soil note totally disappears for me in the first hour.
This definitely has some similarities to Ghost in the Stones, but that one is greener and fresher, while Crypt Keeper is earthier, woodier, spicier. If Ghost in the Stones is a stroll through a graveyard, then Crypt Keeper is a mausoleum in that graveyard, where someone has recently burned incense and you can faintly smell the cedar coffin.
Overall, Crypt Keeper starts out cold and damp but settles into a cozy skin scent. This is very wearable. A good choice if you want to feel a bit creepy and strange when you first apply the scent, but don't want to commit to smelling like a literal graveyard all day. For me, I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting something weirder. But this is nothing like the stereotypical "Crypt Keeper" archetype (ie. Tales from the Crypt). This is quite somber and reverent.
