Loukhoum-esque
I came to The Body Shop WHITE MUSK LIBERTINE with compoundedly low expectations. First, it's the Body Shop. Second, I retain less than halcyon memories of Vivienne Westwood LIBERTINE, which manifested the dreaded hairspray effect on my skin.

What a pleasant surprise it was to find that TBS WHITE MUSK LIBERTINE is a sort of low-brow (supremely inexpensive) version of a loukhoum perfume! Honestly this does not smell bad at all to me, and the drydown is actually quite nice.

One perhaps unexpected virtue of this less expensive loukhoum (relative to Keiko Mecheri or Montale), is that WHITE MUSK LIBERTINE is significantly less sweet than the niche perfumes of this type. That's surely good news for those whose criticism of niche loukhoum offerings focuses primarily on their intolerable sweetness.

Worth a try for those who like sweet perfumes. I myself do not find WHITE MUSK LIBERTINE very musky at all. The name seems a bit misleading to me. This is all about sweetness and light, not shadows and skank.

Fluffy, comforting goodness
This fragrance is like a cozy blanket. I actually like to wear it when I’m unwell, it’s so comforting and doesn’t make me feel nauseous. It’s sweet, floral and powdery - the word that I feel best describes it is ‘fluffy’! It’s a shame they discontinued this one, and I’ll be sad when I finish my bottle. I haven’t really smelt anything else like it.

Pink Cream
The opening of White Musk Libertine EDP seems to be out of balance. A lot of alcohol bursts out with overwhelming sweet honey, cream and rose. However, given a few minutes to allow it settle down, the balance among these ingredients is recovered. Although it's not an exact replica of turkish delight, this creamy compostion certainly has several characteristics of this delicious confectionary and vaguely reminds me of it. The scent doesn't evolve much afterwards, but simply fades away. And the musk is not very prominent on my skin. The sillage of EDP is close to skin and the longevity is about 6 hours.

The EDT concentration opens quite balanced like the EDP once settled down. However, it soon loses its strength and waters down. I thus largely prefer EDP once the opening has passed.

Surrounded by fragrant warmth
Unprepared and unsuspecting, I strolled into The Body Shop at the main train station. I had time until my train and didn't know how else to pass it. The crowd of people, the distant announcements, the very special atmosphere that promises departure - I love it! But it's also nice to escape from it a little. I stepped inside, looked around, and breathed in the unmistakable scent that is characteristic of every cosmetics store. Touching a bottle here, sniffing a shower lotion there, rubbing something on the back of my hand over there. Already mentally traveling hundreds of kilometers away while still enjoying the fleeting moment.
- Can I help you?
- Thanks, I'm just looking around a bit! :)
Bottles, jars, tubs, tubes... Most of it I've seen before, some I've even had. And then I saw the Libertine. Yes, this perfume is a "she" - in delicate, transparent pink :) I couldn't remember knowing her. Or maybe I just didn't remember. I picked up the bottle and examined it almost disinterestedly. Smelled it, sprayed it, smelled it again... Good, good... But not for me. Still, I slipped the strip into my bra, a habit.
After I had unintentionally replenished my stock of creams, scrubs, and body butter, I sat on the train and looked out the window. Gray upon gray upon gray. But somehow I felt comfortable, warm, and just right. My journey lasted several hours, and at some point in the middle, I realized that the little pink Libertine was doing me good.
It was she who transformed my seat in the speeding train into a cozy armchair. It was she who splashed a dollop of cream on my black coffee that shimmered silky. It was she who painted the black-gray contours of the day with warm, comforting colors. I grinned in my turtleneck and leaned back comfortably. What do I really have here? I smell so much feminine softness, as if I were sinking into it! Sweet! It reminds me of cream filling for my cakes. It seems absurd to smell like a cake. And funny. Here I sit, unintentionally delicious, and who knows what the other passengers associate with this scent I am exuding! Perhaps cream sandwiches? Let them! I smell the musk, I know that. The rest is elegant, gentle harmony that swirls around it, making it seem very close, as if it were almost materializing!
..........
I bought Libertine without hesitation and have never regretted it. This scent has a comforting effect on me, alleviating sorrow and easing stress. Moreover, it is very elegant and well-groomed, even creating the illusion of being nurturing - as if one were lying in a bathtub full of cream and flowers, and with every movement, one is surrounded by fragrant warmth... Libertine is simply beautiful!

For me, the perfume lasts about 10 hours with just one spray, but when I sniff myself, I can smell it even longer. In the first hour, the scent is quite noticeable.
* This comment refers to the Eau de Parfum. I also have the Eau de Toilette.

Luxury Babe
This fragrance also came into my collection by chance: through a swap game. When it was offered, I just jumped in blindly. Previously, the Body Shop scents had always flown a bit under my radar, labeled as "nice, but nothing special." That was about to change.

Even the bottle is a feast for the eyes. Simple, with its subtle pink gradient on the frosted glass. Somehow elegant; larger houses have designed bottles that look cheaper.

After the first test, my opinion about the Body Shop scents was fundamentally changed. At least for this fragrance.

White Musk Libertine is a dream in pink. A light pink powder cloud, completely without dust. You can clearly smell its relation to White Musk, but here the dry - clean musk is complemented by a subtle sweetness. I can distinctly smell the Crème Chantilly, paired with a very soft orchid. I can't recognize the Turkish delight with its dripping honey sweetness - and I actually think that's quite good. This keeps the scent airy and light. It doesn't overwhelm or suffocate anyone. I feel like it’s not even necessarily associated with perfume, but rather with an expensive body powder. You simply smell well-groomed; the sillage is therefore rather close to the body, yet still noticeable. A luxury babe indeed.
It envelops you and lets you float in a pink cloud above everyday life.

White Musk Libertine is one of the few swapped fragrances that has immediately earned a permanent place in my collection. I wear it often, as it fits perfectly into everyday life. University, work, couch - no problem at all.

I don’t want to miss it anymore; unfortunately, that will be the case in the foreseeable future, as it has been discontinued. As is often the case with true treasures. But until then, I will gladly indulge in my pink powder dream.

For those who still want to grab it: it is currently being sold at a bargain price by the Body Shop in clearance. Get it while you can!

For me, this is a short-lived old-school scent. Similar to Ysatis and the like, a bit sweeter but less overpowering. I like it!

Soft, caressing musk scent with wonderfully delicate sweet hints! What a shame it has already been discontinued.

First, crumbly-moist musk, synthetic floral, then a nice candy scent joins in, drops, tasty, sour and sweet. I think it's better than Prada Candy fragrances.

strange creamy-aldehydic, has little to do with the big sister "White Musk"

A dream in pink: warm, soft, dry, powdery sweet. Well-groomed. Luxurious. My favorite cheapie. And unfortunately discontinued. What a shame.

Luckily I bought it back then, just saw: still available online. Has nothing to do with the original anymore. Sweet, creamy, a bit powdery, delicious.

Sitting on the sofa in my pink terry robe, freshly moisturized, eating marshmallows. Sweet, creamy, clean.

I can hardly imagine anyone not liking it. Warm, soft, slightly sweet, a cozy cuddle scent. Pretty bottle.
